City of Wolfenbüttel
The town of Wolfenbüttel (external link, opens in a new window), with around 52,000 inhabitants and over 1,000 half-timbered houses, is the first Renaissance town in Germany to be built according to plan. The cosmopolitan city has retained its charm to this day. It is not only the special charm of the historic old town with its numerous cafés and shops that invites you to linger. The open-air events of the KulturSommer (external link, opens in a new window) at Wolfenbüttel Palace and the nearby Fümmelsee natural bathing lake with over 13,000 square metres of water also ensure quality of life and leisure enjoyment in Wolfenbüttel.
