Conference on 20 February 2025 at the Faculty of Social Work at Ostfalia University in Wolfenbüttel

What are the current challenges and perspectives of municipal social policy? What role do social work and social planning play in shaping municipal social policy? What is the situation in the various fields of action? Can the capabilities approach serve as a model for municipal social policy? The conference "Municipal Social Policy, Social Planning and Social Work", to which the Faculty of Social Work at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences invites you to Wolfenbüttel on Thursday, 20 February 2025 (9.30 am to approx. 4.30 pm), will address questions such as these.

As part of the conference, research findings from the "Municipal Social Planning and Social Work (KoSoSo)" project will be presented and placed in the context of the current challenges facing municipal social policy.

"The conference is intended to contribute to greater cooperation between social planning and social work, because the potential of such cooperation for policy-making in municipal social policy is great," explains Ostfalia researcher Prof. Dr Holger Wunderlich.

In the four workshops, the conference topic "Municipal social policy, social planning and social work" will be discussed from the perspective of science, planning and social work. The focus will be on different fields of action: (1) youth and youth welfare planning; (2) childhood and early childhood education; (3) migration and integration (with a focus on education); (4) poverty, social space and community work.

The programme is aimed at all interested parties, in particular people working in the field of social work, social planning or social policy. Participation is free of charge. Venue: Faculty of Social Work, Am Exer 6, 38302 Wolfenbüttel, Room 147. Registrations are possible until 7 February 2025.
